Alfred S. Lippman collection of Civil War letters
This collection consists primarily of Antebellum and Civil War letters collected by donor Al Lippman. The letters were primarily written by Union soldiers in the south to their families in the north. The letters describe news of skirmishes and fighting, daily camp life, illness and disease, slavery and opinions and observations about their experiences. Many of the letters were written by soldiers stationed in Louisiana. The collection also contains 41 Civil War postal covers.

The collection consists of material from former Tulane University College dean John P. Dyer, including personal correspondence, materials from New Orleans Rotary, ephemera from Tulane Night Performances, as well as his publication research and portions of some manuscripts. Also included are his reference materials on the Civil war and the Confederacy, night and adult colleges, a Bible, as well as two scrapbooks and three plaques.

This collection consists of correspondence, commissions, diaries, photographs, clippings, currency, stocks, legal documents, certificates, a wallet, biographical information, and other items relating to Confederate Brigadier General Meriwether Jeff Thompson, and other members of the Thompson family of Missouri and Louisiana. Included are handwritten secret codes used by the Confederate Army.

This collection consists of personal papers of Martin L. Sloane of Louisiana. Included are Confederate military orders and post-war amnesty oaths, certificates from the offices of Louisiana governors Murphy James Foster and Francis Tillou Nicholls, twentieth-century photostatic copies of death certificates, a wallet belonging to M. L. Sloane, and photographs including a tin-type and a funereal pin.
