The collection consists of receipts, bills, deeds, legal papers, slave records, correspondence, genealogical material, newspaper clippings, land claims, real estate transactions, tax records, and ledgers. The Hoeyville Plantation had a brickyard with three kilns, a saddle and harness factory, as well as a wheelbarrow factory, which sold wheelbarrows in 1848 to Texans in the United States-Mexican War.
