Scope and Contents

c. 1531. Fragment of a catechism used by friars for the conversion of indigenous people in New Spain before native languages were transcribed into Latin characters. It is written using a form of prehispanic pictographic writing possibly based on an earlier Nahuatl version and other symbols that could be phonetic of rebus in nature.
