Scope and Contents

1962-1985.  Nine sets of photocopies of manuscripts describing nine folk dances of Guatemala. In the summer of 1985, Roland Baumann, a Tulane University student from Belgium, collected manuscripts on nine folk dances in Guatemala. Photocopies of these manuscripts comprise the collection. The dances include Animales, Conquista de Almalonga, Diablos, Masat, Moros y Cristianos, Napoleón, Norteños, Siete Virtudes and Torito. The following descriptions of the dances were provided by Professor Munro S. Edmonson, based on information from Baumann.  Included are color photographs and diagrams of one of the dances.
