Scope and Contents
This collection of records, from the office of New Orleans architects J. Buchanan Blitch and Associates, Incorporated (James Buchanan Blitch, (1923-1998), includes project drawings for civic, commercial, educational, religious, and residential buildings, as well as institutions like juvenile detention centers and orphanages. Projects were done in New Orleans, throughout Louisiana, and a few other cities in the United States. Buildings include the Home of the Aged for Little Sisters of the Poor, the School of Medicine at Louisiana State University, the Louisiana World Exhibition, the Milne Municipal Boy's Home, Southern University, St. Mary's Dominican College, the United States Mint, the WVUE Channel 8 building, and Young Men’s Christian’s Association.

Active during the mid-20th century, J. Buchanan Blitch and Associates executed public and institutional commissions in Louisiana and Mississippi, including many buildings for the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Drawings are from 1913 through the 1970s, and do not include records of successor firms Blitch Architects, Incorporated, or Blitch-Knevel Architects.
