Collection of John DeMorant Crawford and Charles C., Jr. Drawings
Scope and Contents
This collection includes project drawings by brothers John DeMorant Crawford and Charles C. Crawford, Jr., of New Orleans. John D. Crawford drawings consist mainly of designs for steam and sailing vessels and were apparently done in New England. One is inscribed Marblehead Yacht Yard. Charles C. Crawford, Jr. drawings include mechanical drawing exercises and blueprints for a pumping plant at Galveston, Texas and a power plant at Gulfport, Mississippi. These projects were made while he was an employee of Andrew M. Lockett and Company, a mechanical engineering firm in New Orleans.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
Drawings were purchased by Tulane in 1966, along with other Crawford family papers from Frank Laughlin, a New Orleans dealer. Laughlin acquired the papers from the estate of Charles C. Crawford, Jr. Crawford family papers are in the Louisiana Research Collection (LaRC) of Tulane University Special Collections.
