Braun New Orleans Fire Insurance Atlases Collection
Scope and Contents
This collection includes three fire insurance atlases for the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, compiled by surveyor-architect John F. Braun and engraved and printed by H.N. Wehrmann of New Orleans. One atlas, dated 1877, covers the third district of the city. The other two, dated 1874 and 1877, cover the fourth district. Atlases show blocks in districts and include buildings, which are color coded to indicate the materials of which they are constructed. Symbols and handwritten notes provide additional information.
