David B. Vitter Congressional papers
Scope and Contents
The David B. Vitter Congressional Papers collection contains materials accumulated over his tenure as both a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and of the Senate. The majority of the files document legislative activities, services to constituents, campaigns, press and communications, and Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts (Senate only). These topics and more are illustrated through a range of paper document types, including clippings, correspondence, briefing books, constituent mail, grants and projects requests, daily schedules, and committee work. Photographs and audio-visual materials (audio cassettes, video and betacam tapes, DVDs) document floor hearings, campaign advertising, interviews and other television appearances. The collection also contains a small number of digital files present on CDRs and integrated into folders of the paper files. The overall arrangement follows the records management procedures recommended by Senate Archivist Karen Paul. The collection has been arranged in two sub-groups: sub-group one is Senate records, and sub-group two is House records. Records series and subseries are the same for the two sub-groups when possible.
