Red River Raft project records
Scope and Contents
The documents in this collection deal with the Red River Project carried out in 1872-1873 by Lieutenant E.A. Woodruff, under the direction of Captain C.W. Howell, both of the U.S. Corps of Engineers. Included are two letters to Lieutenant Woodruff, from C.M. Hervey and T.P. Hotchkiss, giving data on the raft and benefits that would result from its removal; a letter from Lieutenant Woodruff to Captain Howell with reference to continuation of project during the summer months and plans for improvements on Soda Lake and Cypress Bayou; reports on Cypress Bayou and Tone's Bayou; and other documents.
