Scope and Contents
The collection consists of correspondence, office files, publications and bulletins pertaining to the National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, the Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, Southern District #15, and the Louisiana Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, District #17. There are also invitations to various functions, information packets, membership lists, district histories as well as correspondence and publications from Henry S. Jacobs Camp and the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience.

Biographical / Historical
The National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods was founded in 1913 during a historic period of struggle for equality for women. The Federation is also active in the promotion of human rights, religious freedom, and other social issues. The Southern District consists of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Memphis, Tennessee. Congregations with members belonging to the Louisiana Federation in New Orleans include Congregation Gates of Prayers and Touro Synagogue.

The collection is arranged into four series: 1. National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods (Boxes 1-3); 2. Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, Southern District #15 (Boxes 4-8), arranged by state and then alphabetically by city; 3. Louisiana Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, District #17, (Boxes 9-12), arranged alphabetically by city; and 4. Accretion (Boxes 13-17), arranged alphabetically by congregation or name. The collection consists of seventeen boxes and one oversize folder.
