Cancer Crusaders records

Captain George Nelson company book

This volume is a descriptive list of Captain George Nelson's Company in the 6th Regiment Infantry of the United States Army, circa 1809-1812. The book contains the names of the men in his company with descriptions of each, clothing and arms accounts, and lists of deserters and persons discharged, promoted, or dead. Most of the men enlisted in New York.

Captain William Layman memoir

Manuscript entitled "Captain [William] Layman'ss Memoir to a Chart of Manilla Bay & the West Coast of Luconia [Luzon] including theBashee Islands" made perhaps during the British capture of Manila in 1762. The memoir contains instructions for navigating and landing ships in the area, wih information about water depths, location on rocks and shoals, tides and weather in different seasons, and the availability of water and provisions on the various islands.

Carl Thomas Stockmeyer Letterbook

Carlos Clemente papers

Personal papers of Carlos Clemente including a partial copy of the proceedings in the suit of Clemente Carlos versus R. Monasteries in Nicaragua wherein the monasteries insisted that Carlos had not delivered many contracted items which justified Carlos' placement in jail. In response, Carlos claimed that the Monasteries had stolen items from the loading dock and asked for payment for the missing items.

Caroline Hale letter

Scope and Contents

The letter, written by Caroline Hale from New Orleans, describes New Orleans to her sisters, Miss Mary Hale and Mrs. Alice L. March, in Newburyport, Massachusetts. In addition, there is a postscript to Hale's mother. The letter describes water, the river, chain gangs, and opthalmia (an eye disease common in New Orleans). Caroline Hale is traveling with Josh and Anna, away from home for six months. She also mentions small pox, the American Theatre, and Reverend Scott.

Report of James Leander Cathcart and James Hutton, agents of the U.S. Government, of an expedition for the survey and selection of vacant unappropriated public lands which produce timber suitable for use for the U.S. Navy. The journal describes a trip from Norfolk, Va., to New Orleans, La., via the Southeast pass of the MIssissippi. The journal gives detailed information on topography, vegetation, weather and incidental data on shipping, health conditions and customs.
