Included are typed correspondence, including outgoing carbons, post cards, partially printed personal tax documents from 1926 and 1927, statistical charts on cotton production, photographs, periodicals, reports, drafts of columns, telegrams, clippings and other printed items. A.J. Mann's columns respond to the stock market crash of 1929 and its ongoing effects on the cotton trade and the American economy....

Paterson was one of the founders of the International House, a member of Young Men's Business Club of New Orleans, and active with the New Orleans Area Council Boy Scouts of America, Louisiana State Board of Industry and Commerce, and New Orleans Aviation Board.

Phelps' diaries contain brief accounts of his daily life, and typical entries include his activities, moods, and the weather. The diaries cover the years from 1837-1849. To obtain a mortgage from Bank de l'Association Consolidée des Cultivateurs de la Louisiana, Abraham Arsenaux offers for collateral a peice of land on the Mississippi River in St. James Parish next to land owned by Jeanne Baptiste Chaisson and 34 slaves. The document contains a title abstract of the land and lists the slaves belonging to him and those belonging to his wife, Carmélite Conille (widow of François Huget).

The collection consists chiefly of copies of documents and letters from the Louisiana Land Office, covering the granting, surveying, seeling, mortgaging, and other topics, of land in West Feliciana Parish, Greensburg district, and around the Lake of the Cross. The documents pertain to tracts of land purchased by Joseph A.S. Acklen in the 1850s and trace the history of the various titles. There are also maps showing property and personal letters.
