Scope and Contents The William T. Dean papers primarily illustrate his military career, including military orders, correspondence, passports, invitations, appointments, commissions, reports, and an oath of office. Dean was a Lieutenant Colonel of the 5th Regiment, Louisiana Volunteers, of the Confederate Army, as well as a certified engineer.
